Elizabeth Wurtzel is the author of Prozac Nation, Bitch, and More, Now, Again. She was the pop music critic at New York Magazine and The New Yorker. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, The Oxford American, The Guardian, and many other publications. A graduate of Harvard College and Yale Law School, she is a lawyer at Boies, Schiller & Flexner. Elizabeth Wurtzel lives in Greenwich Village.

This book reads like a college term paper. There is useful information in the book, but where it fails largely for me its that the author doesn't really clarify her point in a clear style outside of the title of the book itself. (As a college term paper she'd get marks for research but not much for the flow, topic, or conclusion.) As an American, her belief in American exceptionalism is actually a bit off-putting; she ignores quite a bit of history, ancient and recent, about contributions made by other countries and clearly doesn't know much about life outside the US. I'd have thought this written by a Millennial were it not for the obvious trip down Gen-X memory lane towards the end of the book, but her writing style indicates that as educated as she considers herself the art of the long-form sentence is something they must not have taught her, or she didn't pay attention to while listening to the Clash at fifteen. She does try to prove she is educated - obnoxiously so, and the writing its cluttered with what is essentially name-dropping, which gets a little tedious & doesn't add much for the reader except to delay the mercy that is getting to the end of this book.Product details

Awesome tract, and very timely.
Its elizabeth wurtzel. whats not to like?
Astute, witty, inspired writing by Wurtzerl, as usual. A great, concise read.
I felt stupid reading it because I was expecting "classic Wurtzel," and have very little knowledge pertaining to copyright laws and such. Still, I enjoyed it.
I normally don't read nonfiction of this genre--laws, government, etc.--but this was quite interesting. The author digs into history, pop culture, art, literature, film making, and so many other things that tie into the intellectual property clause. She also compares views of intellectual property between countries and eras. For people who have reservations like I did, be aware that this is a short, worthwhile read.
As a semi retired life long entertainment executive, I have waded through unbelievable crap, suffered many fools, and been inspired by mind bending brilliance. I have never lost my fascination with this crazy world, nor have I ever really figured it out. Not only does Ms. Wurtzel understand this vibrant passion and maniacal motivation, but she ties it to the very essence of being American. Thank you James Madison, and thank you Ms. Wurtzel. Creatocracy is a fabulous read.
